What is a Swim Parachute and How Do I Use It?

A swim parachute is a tool used by advanced swimmers to add resistance to their swimming. It is worn like a belt with the parachute drifting behind the swimmer. The purpose of it is to catch as much water as possible so that the swimmer feels added resistance during the workout. Then, when the parachute is taken off, the swimmer is used to fatigue normally felt during the last lap of a race (called the “monkey on the back”). Resistance training will give you a competitive advantage during a race. While everyone else is lagging during the last lap, you’ll be flying to the wall in a beautiful finish.
